Dear Supporter of Mary Help of Christians School,

We are excited to embark on essential repairs and renovations of the East Wing as we celebrate 90 years of Mary Help of Christians School. Building on the legacy of those who founded the Salesian mission, we aim to continue providing generations with a Salesian education.

To achieve this, we will renovate the East Wing into the CREATE Center (Center for Retreat, Education, Advancement, and Training Excellence).  The Center will allow MHCS to continue the Salesian tradition of creating a safe, inclusive environment where youth can learn to become good, honest, active and contributing citizens through education, leadership development and physical, mental and spiritual formation.  

More specifically the repair and renovations of the future CREATE center will include meeting rooms, a conference room, retreat space, chapel, locker room, bathroom, and shower rooms. In addition, the renovations will include: an industrial kitchen, dining, and laundry area. It will include living quarters for seven Sisters who are formed and live the tradition of St. John Bosco and have been entrusted with Mary Help of Christians School for the education and formation of our youth in Laredo. Importantly, the retreat space will accommodate twenty-six persons for overnight retreats. The youth programs consist of education, spiritual formation, and discernment. The surrounding grounds will also create several quiet spaces for reflection and prayer. Finally, the repair and renovations will include an adoration chapel which is essential for the retreat experience.  

The renovation is expected to take one year and is underway, with an estimated cost of $3.5 million. Your support is essential for us to continue this important mission, and your contribution will be tax-deductible.
